Introducing IoT in agriculture: Italian experience – Presented by Giuliano Vitali, UniBo / Fa.Mo.S.A. at the Smart Farming Conference, which takes place on Jun 29, 2017, at Villa Flora, Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, The Netherlands.

Introducing IoT in agriculture is a participatory process, where innovation partners should work together producer/farmer associations. Each plant/crop/variety has different problems and priority should be given to plan observation schemes, to chose or design fitting sensors and recording devices. Years 2015 and 2016 proved that technology is ready and reliable for the majority of applications as much as network coverage (G4, SigFox) and data access platform. Case studies deal with typical problems of fruit production as irrigation alert and monitoring of ripening status.
