Utilizing smart, internet connected closed loop ecosystems to overcome challenges in feeding the world’s population – Presented by Karthik Ranjan, ARM at the Smart Farming Conference, which takes place on Jun 29, 2017, at Villa Flora, Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, The Netherlands.

UN projections estimate the world climb to well over 9 billion by 2050, combined with increasing water scarcity and reduced arable land, this presents us with many challenges to grow enough food to feed these people. Fortunately internet connectivity combined with innovations in technology and biochemistry  are on the horizon promising to deliver innovative sensing solutions to optimize use of resources and enable precision farming to become a reality.   This talk will explore the end to end ecosystem of precision farming looking at soil sensing to plant image sensing and how connectivity will drive increased yield in the future.

Karthik was appointed director of IoT Services Group in April of 2017 and has been with ARM for over 7 years, based in Seattle. He previously held a position as head of emerging technologies where he looked at new areas for ARM including agriculture.
