Andre Fabris, AppsForce, will speak at Smart farming Conference, on June 27, during AgriFood Innovation Event in Venlo, The Netherlands.
Project Animus uses big data and machine learning to advise farmers how to grow plants, resulting in 25% increase in profit and better sustainability of agriculture.
What drives you?
I would love to leave a better world for our children. I believe that individuals and small and medium enterprises are innovators and game changers. Being a software expert I want to give them the right tools to make the real difference. Project Animus is that kind of tool for agriculture.
Why should the delegate attend your presentation?
While there are many tech solutions addressing one specific issue in agriculture, project Animus wants to get the big picture. We got significant interest from scientific community such as universities and industry leaders such as seed manufacturers and distributors as well as grants to make this project happen.
What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
I see big data as a crude oil of the next century. On its own it is useless, however refining it and understanding it will give us tremendous power.
What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
Our current knowledge of any complex process in nature or society is telling us we do not know anything. But at least we are gathering data about those processes and discovering what are the right questions. Answering those questions is the crucial for our future: these are the questions of life or death.
What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
Time. We will get the answers if we have enough time. However, are we going to get those answers on time, or are we going to be too late?
Big data is a crude oil of the next century. On its own it is useless, however refining it and understanding it will give us tremendous power.
